The RDYSL established the club Leadership Award for the 2009 season to provide our member clubs with an incentive to improve key aspects of the game for the good of the players. The Leadership Award is focused on reducing adult and player misbehavior and improve adherence to RDYSL rules and policies while not changing the way the game of soccer should be played. This award is intended to be difficult to achieve. Four of the thirty-four clubs in RDYSL in 2009 were recipients of this award. RDYSL believes the award winning clubs have, by taking the actions needed to win this award, demonstrated superior qualities required to ensure a wholesome, fun environment for players and their families alike.
"The Strikers Soccer Club is honored to be recognized by the RDYSL with this award. We give credit to our athletes, parents and the many volunteers who make the work possible -coaches, managers and board members. We also thank the Town of Penfield for ensuring that our fields are fit for play and for the Town's support developing our home schedule.
It's important to understand that the Strikers fielded 18 teams during the 2009 season (for which we have been so recognized). The next largest Club recognized fielded 8. We are proud of what our larger soccer community does - and does so well - to benefit over 300 girls and young woman each year."
