There will be no formal tryouts for Strikers for the 2020-2021. The teams and rosters from the 2019/2020 season will stay in place for the 20/21 season. There will be opportunities for those players who wish to try out for the Red teams to do so in the event that there are openings on those rosters. In those circumstances where a team member wishes to move up, independent evaluators will assess those players during the first 2 weeks of practice and make a recommendation.
1. Once registration opens you’ll have until September 4th to register to secure your daughter’s roster spot.
2. If your daughter wishes to be evaluated for a spot on the Red team please email the tryout committee- firstname.lastname@example.org with your daughter’s current team info and the info of the team she wishes to be evaluated for.
Penfield Strikers Board
Dear Strikers families,
Thank you for your patience as we navigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We understand that this has been a difficult time for everyone, and we have been working through the best way to support our families while ensuring the future sustainability of our club. Based on our analysis, we have determined that each player will receive a refund of $75 due to the early termination of the 2019-2020 season. Please note the following with respect to your refund:
1- The refund amount was determined as the “break-even” amount for this season. As a non-profit organization, we are not looking to make money. At the same time, with so much still unknown about the upcoming year/season, we did not feel it would be prudent to dip in to our emergency reserves. As you may recall from our annual meeting, a vast majority of our costs (roughly 85%) are fixed costs that cover indoor practice facility rental, skills coaching, and funds provided to teams for tournaments/additional training. Because we completed a majority of our indoor training, the facility and coaching costs were paid in full. In addition, we determined that it did not make sense to take back money that had already been distributed to individual teams, as some teams participated in indoor leagues and tournaments prior to the season cancellation, and others may still be planning to attend a postponed tournament or awaiting a refund from a cancelled tournament. Therefore, although we did not get to participate in any league play, the reduction in club expenses was minimal.
2- Refunds will be coordinated and processed through your team manager. Please look for communication from your team manager on how this will work for your player’s individual team.
Thank you again for your patience and understanding. We look forward to seeing everyone back out on the soccer field soon!
